BTC Cold Cuts is a bold, heavy display font that brings together the creative synergy of its creators and the dynamic energy of cross-cultural inspiration. Developed in collaboration with Kelly Scheurich, this typeface features thick-to-thin shapes that create brush-like glyphs, reminiscent of brush scripts. Although this style is often used in English to represent Asian culture, especially in the context of food, we took a fresh approach by drawing directly from Asian typography to shape our design.
With BTC Cold Cuts, we aimed to move beyond the typical restaurant-inspired motifs and instead spotlight a more forward-thinking movement. After crafting the initial set of glyphs, we created proof-of-concept examples featuring some of our favorite hip-hop artists from the past. The result is a font that merges traditional influences with contemporary culture, perfect for projects looking to blend heritage with a modern twist.
